Do you fancy having a more youthful look? Well, you’re in for a treat as I’ve got a fantastic opportunity for one of my followers to win a full size bottle (30ml) of Weleda Evening Primrose Age Revitalising Concentrate* (worth £38.95) from one of my all time favourite brands – Weleda. I’ve recently teamed up with them to run a giveaway on my Instagram account so do read on to find out how to enter.

Combating dry and dehydrated skin

It’s not a surprise to most of us, especially those of us (moi!!) getting close to that grand ‘old’ age of 40, that over time our skin loses its previous elasticity. I personally feel like my skin has aged dramatically over the past three years since having my second son Maxi. I’m working really hard by using high quality skincare products, following the right diet, drinking lots of water, sleeping as much as I can but still my skin often feels like it needs an extra boost.

To combat this, I’ve been using Weleda Evening Primrose Age Revitalising Concentrate for a few months now and I’m really pleased with the results. Especially on my forehead which always gets so dry when I’m run down, and for me that is a sure sign of dehydrated skin and that I need to up my skincare game.

Weleda has been one of my most trusted natural skincare brands and I love trying their new products. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that knowing what ingredients go into our skincare products is very important to me. With Weleda, I often don’t even have to check what ingredients are inside – I simply know their formulations are always so good and clean.

Ingredients in the Evening Primrose Age Revitalising Concentrate

With Weleda’s Evening Primrose Age Revitalising Concentrate, the ingredient list looks really impressive:

(INCI): Water (Aqua), Alcohol, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil Unsaponifiables, Hamamelis virginiana (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Centella Asiatica Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Althaea Officinalis Root Extract, Carrageenan, Xanthan Gum, Arginine, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Limonene*, linalool*, Benzyl Benzoate*, Benzyl Salicylate*, Geraniol*, Citral*, Farnesol*.

*from natural essential oils.

Pretty much all of the ingredients have their own skin-nourishing properties. The hero ingredient though, Evening Primrose Oil, has its own unique properties. Containing linoleic acid, it’s particularly kind and soothing to dry and sensitive skin, protecting it against water loss. We also have aloe vera and olive oil, quite well known for their hydrating properties. Other ingredients are probably less known in the Western world, such as Centella Asiatica (popular in Korean beauty products) which has been shown to have potent antioxidant properties. Or Plukenetia Volubilis which originates from the Peruvian Andes and can contribute to cell regeneration and cell-activating, as well as increase skin’s metabolism and elasticity. Yes, there is alcohol (which is used as a stabiliser here) and also perfume/ fragrance which can irritate or dry up skin but I haven’t found this to be an issue.

The concentrate is also suitable for vegans.

So is the concentrate just for mature skin?

I agree that the description can make you wonder if the concentrate is only for a particular age group but to be honest, my view is that it’s more about the ingredients and the properties they have. At the moment, my skin needs an extra boost, especially as I don’t sleep too well (thanks to my early-rising toddler!), so I choose products that provide extra hydration, such as this concentrate.

How to use Evening Primrose Age Revitalising Concentrate?

The concentrate, as the name suggests, is very potent and only a small amount is needed for each application. I apply it mostly before going to bed by massing a couple of drops into my face, neck and décolletage, before applying another serum or facial oil (as my skin doesn’t like face creams). The concentrate has a very light consistency and so it absorbs well into your skin, leaving a very fine layer.
