This month’s LoveLula Beauty Box contained the following products:

LoveLula Beauty Box - June 2018 {First impressions}

L’odaites Gentle Polyphenol Exfoliator* (60ml, £39)

[disclaim] Ingredients (INCI): Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Phoenix Dactylifera (Dates) Fruit Powder, Phoenix Dactylifera (Dates) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis (Leaf Juice) Gel, Mel (Honey), Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Sucrose Laurate, Tocopherol, Ascorbic Acid, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Parfum (Fragrance), Citric Acid, Aqua. [/disclaim]

First impressions: I was very excited to see one of LoveLula’s latest additions to their selection of natural skincare brands. This product from a Parisian brand L’odaites is particularly interesting as its hero ingredient is rather unusual (and one of my favourite treats) – a date pit and extract, with the latter lending itself to the exfoliator’s dark and gloopy consistency. I actually nearly spilled it everywhere when opening the jar so you’ve been warned! I have to say I hadn’t come across dates in any products before but it seems the date pit contains high levels of polyphenols which are powerful antioxidant agents.

When I read the description about dates, the curiosity got the better of me so I just had to try this exfoliator as soon as I opened the box. Its gloopy texture (also owed to aloe vera and honey) means it glides smoothly across your face when it’s being massaged into your skin, while at the same time gently exfoliating it with its tiny date pit particles. The result after ten minutes was as promised – “smooth, clear, and radiant [skin], giving it a refined texture and fresh complexion”. The exfoliator also has a really lovely and delicate smell (reminiscent of date syrup which I spread on my porridge!!!) adding a luxurious element to the whole experience. Its rather high-end price tag won’t appeal to a thrift spender but given you really need a small amount for each application, the relatively big jar will last you for a while so don’t be put off by it.

Joik Refreshing Facial Toner with sea buckthorn & aloe vera* (100ml, £10)

[disclaim] Ingredients (INCI): Aqua, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides, Aloe Barbadensis Juice, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Benzoate, Citrus Paradisi Peel Oil, Mentha Piperita Leaf Oil, Juniperus Communis Fruit Oil, Linalool*, Citral*, Limonene* * Components Of Natural Essential Oils [/disclaim]

First impressions: This toner isn’t new to me as I’ve been using it for a while now (I’ve previously written about it in my skincare favourites post in September 2017). The aloe vera in it is super soothing and moisturising, while the sea buckthorn is rich in vitamins A, C and E so a perfect combo to repair skin. I like to use this toner following my double cleansing routine to get rid of any leftover make up or impurities, and it also leaves your skin really soft and smooth. One of my favourite toners ever so really excited to get it!

Walden ‘See the Moonlight’ Natural Perfume Oil* (10ml, £17)

[disclaim] Ingredients (INCI): Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Peel Oil, Jasminum Sambac Flower Extract, Santalum Album Oil, Myrocarpus Frondosus Wood Oil, Iris Pallida Root Oil, Evernia Prunastri Extract, Cistus Ladaniferus Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Oil, Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract, Hibiscus Abelmoschus Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Flower Oil *Benzyl Benzoate, *Eugenol, *Treemoss Extract, *d-Limonene, *Citral, *Citronellol, *Geraniol, *Farnesol, *Linalol [/disclaim]

First impressions: A brand new scent released by LoveLula from their Walden range, this is my absolute favourite from the range. In fact, every time I’m using it, it’s slowly becoming an all time favourite natural perfume, if not, all time favourite perfume EVER!!! I simply adore the fragrance!!!! It’s the muskiness and earthiness of sandalwood mixed with sweetness of bergamot, jasmine and rose that I find really soothing to my senses. Obviously with any perfume, whether you like it or not is very subjective so I can’t possibly explain what it is that I love about it. I also love the fact it comes as an oil and in a handy travel-size rollerball which means it lasts on your skin longer (being an oil) and I can pop it into my handbag to reapply during the day. I’m officially in love <3

Joik Sweet Orange and Mint Body Butter* (sample, full size – 150ml, £14.90)

[disclaim] Ingredients: Aqua, Mangifera Indica Seed Butter, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Glycerin, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capryc Triglyceride, Olea Europaea Oil Unsaponifiables, Isoamyl Laurate, Apricot Kernel Oil Polyglyceryl-4 Esters, Isocetyl Stearoyl Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Polyglyceryl-4 Cocoate, Sucrose Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Ricinoleate, Sodium Benzoate, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Caprylate, Potassium Sorbate, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Fruit Oil, Sodium Phytate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Peel Oil, Mentha Viridis Leaf Oil, Cananga Odorata Leaf Oil, Limonene*, Linalool*, Benzyl Benzoate*, Farnesol*, Benzyl Salicylate* *Components Of Natural Essential Oils [/disclaim]

First impressions: This has a consistency of a lotion rather than butter, but was very silky smooth to apply and had a very subtle scent. I don’t think I’ve been blown away by it but it’s hard to judge from a TINY sample that wasn’t even enough to cover one arm.

REN & Now to Sleep pillow spray* (10ml sample, full size – 75ml, £18)

[disclaim] Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate, Propanediol, Parfum* (Fragrance), Juniperus Mexicana (Cedarwood) Oil, Boswellia Carterii (Frankincense) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Oil, Cananga Odorata Macrophylla (Ylang Ylang) Flower Extract, Humulus Lupulus Oil, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Lactic Acid, Benzyl Benzoate, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool*

100% Natural Fragrance – Parfum 100% Naturel  [/disclaim]

First impressions: I’ve normally been quite sceptical about REN products as to me they don’t appear as 100% natural. So when I saw this product I was a bit disappointed. But reviewing its ingredients, this product really surprised me, I didn’t even realise they made it. Ingredients are not too bad and the scent is a little overpowering but relaxing nevertheless. I don’t really need help falling asleep as I can pretty much fall asleep LITERALLY within seconds (blame the kids for my sleep deprivation!) so I’ll probably use this spray more for the purpose of relaxation.

Overall, this was a really fabulous box – thanks and well done LoveLula!

And what was your favourite product from this month’s box? Have you tried any of these products before?

  1. Great review and I really love the Walden perfume aswell and was recently thinking about buying a natural scent, so it was great timing to find one in this month’s box. I have only been subscribing to the LoveLula box since January and have been pleased with every one of them so far. In fact they have made me a little obsessed with natural beauty products now!!

    1. Hahaha! I know exactly what you mean about becoming obsessed with natural products – I’m the same 🙂 The Walden perfume roll-on is just gorgeous, I can’t get enough of its scent 🙂 what’s your best find within the LoveLula Beauty Boxes so far? x
