My verdict:

Luckily the weather here in the UK has been so sunny lately so I’ve been able to put this cream to a good test.

First things first then – the ingredients. This formula relies on mineral UV filters, i.e. zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which are the safest filters that sit on top of the outer layer of your skin and essentially reflect the UV light away from your skin. This is in contrast to synthetic UV filters (such as benzophenone, oxybenzone and homosalate) which penetrate your skin and convert the sun rays into heat, potentially leading to damage at cellular level.

This cream also includes some skin-nourishing oils. The second ingredient after water is a rather unheard of oil called pongamia glabra, also known as Karanja oil. It’s rich in oleic fatty acids so it’s perfect for dry and mature skin. Then there’s also argan, rice bran, carrot seed, jojoba, coconut and flax seed oils. All of these will help keep your skin firm while at the same time deeply nourishing and hydrating it from within. So this cream isn’t just a sunblock, it will moisturise your skin as well!

The cream has a rather thick consistency & rich (but non-greasy) texture, and does apply well on skin. I’ve found it glides on & absorbs even better if your face is ever so slightly damp. It certainly doesn’t leave a white cast that you tend to get with some other sun creams based on mineral UV filters which is good. As I said before, I used it during a bit of a heatwave we recently had in the UK & I’m really impressed with its performance. Despite applying the cream early in the morning one hot day recently & forgetting to re-apply it later on, my face did not burn at all, nor did it catch that much sun! So the cream clearly works at reflecting the sun rays away from skin.

I’ve even tried the cream under my usual liquid foundation & I think it could potentially work as a regular SPF cream if you apply a very thin layer and use a good finishing powder for any remaining oiliness.

You may be wondering if there’s a higher SPF available – the short answer is no however please check out my post on general suncare tips, Natural suncare products – key questions and answers, where I explain why higher SPFs are not that much different to the lower ones.

Overall, I think this is a very affordable sun cream product that performs well at protecting your skin from potential sun damage while at the same time keeping it soft, supple and hydrated.

  1. I need to be applying sun cream now I’m out gardening a lot. I’m fair and freckly, so can burn easy. My back garden gets really hot from midday

  2. sounds like a great product, not actually heard of this brand before but looks like it’ll be worth having a look

  3. Anything coconut oil is a winner for me – my Mum swears by it for everything from cooking to eczema and even as an overnight conditioner x

  4. I am off to the Maldives at the end of the year and it is very hot there which will effect my skin. Coupled with the fact that an early menopause played havoc with my skin it needs some TLC . This cream looks like it would be just what I need.

  5. I definitely need to remember to reapply sunceam, not just after swimming. I have a tendancy to put on factor 50+ and forget about it. It’s so much better to have a facial sun cream than use a body one which usually have a greasy consistancy and you end up with shine.

  6. This is so strange, my friend was telling me yesterday how you should put sun cream on your face every day as a primer to prevent wrinkles, and then i read about the Organii one. Will have to get some if i don’t win!

  7. I think having this as a facial cream with sun protection rather than just using a sun cream means I am more inclined to use it. I always forget sunscreen for my face and end up with a burnt nose!

  8. using sun creams are so important and making sure you re apply every two hours, this sounds great ive not yet tried these products

  9. I would love to try this because as my skin matures I feel it needs more protection from the sun and constant moisturising so this could be good for me!

  10. This sounds like a great sun cream. I hate wearing sun cream as I find them too greasy but this one sounds much nicer, especially with the skin nourishing oils. Maybe it would be a sun cream I wouldn’t mind wearing!

  11. This sun cream sounds great and I like that it contains anti-ageing extracts of Argan Oil, Coconut, Carrot Seed and Flax Seed Oils.

  12. Organii have such a wonderful ramge of products that smell wonderful, was just thinking need to get some sun protection, thank you for such a detailed review

  13. Always on the look out for skincare thats natural – my skin is easily irritated – not tried this brand yet – would love to

  14. I like the sound of this, the ingredients sound amazing & love that it is small enough to go on a flight if I only take carry-on luggage too

  15. This sounds great – normally I wear a moisturiser that happens to also have SPF, I’ve never tried a facial suncreen before and Organii sounds perfect for me :o)

  16. I haven’t tried any sun creams from Organii yet but would really love to, fingers crossed… It’s good to know that this sun cream doesn’t leave any white cast, big plus!
