Welcome to my weekly gratitude journal where I share all the every day moments that have made me happy and appreciate life. No matter how mundane life can sometimes feel, there’s always so much to be grateful for which is why I write a gratitude list every week!


This is what made me happy last week:

Monday

Going to a spa with the husband as my birthday gift & having a relaxing time, enjoying a back massage as well as bamboo leg massage (the therapist said I was brave beforehand which surprised me but then I understood what she meant – it hurt so much! ? But it was good sort of pain if you know what I mean!). Having a nice chat with the husband in the car about our future – we don’t really get the time to do this as we’re always with the kids or working away in the evenings – him launching his company and me blogging away, or either of us doing chores around the house. We don’t go out at all so this was a nice treat for both of us. I wish we could do this more often to reconnect with each other more.

Tuesday

Getting into the office in the morning after my day off & being greeted by lovely birthday messages (in English, Polish & Yoruba as that’s my husband’s Nigerian background) printed out onto my desk & computer screens. It was the sweetest surprise – I really have the best team, thanks girls if you’re reading it! Also being in the warmth in the office as the temperatures dropped, and heavy snow and harsh winds caused havoc across the country.

Wednesday

Leaving work early at lunchtime & getting back home ok as everyone in the office became concerned about train delays and cancellations due to snow, and having an understanding director of our division who was happy for all of us to work from home to ensure we got home safe.

Thursday

Leo’s school was closed so I worked from home with him playing around – he definitely enjoyed being out in the garden and playing in the snow (we had a fun snow ball fight at lunchtime too!). Luckily Max’s nursery remained open for most of the day so I managed to get some work done.

Friday

Leo’s school remained closed so we ended up having a chilled out day at home. I was planning to take Leo to his swimming class in the afternoon but it suddenly started snowing after lunchtime so I decided to give it a miss as the swimming pool is about 20-minute drive away. We had a great snowy day indoors with a little bit of play in the snow for Leo (Max wasn’t impressed with snow one bit!)

Saturday

Having a little lie-in in the morning (thanks Hubby as always!) – I really need some early nights as feeling so tired all the time. Having a chilled out drive to a fundraising event for our friend’s daughter who’s battling a rare and inoperable brain cancer, DIPG. It was a beautiful musical event in Notting Hill & I hope they’ve managed to raise some more funds towards revolutionary treatment in Mexico.

Sunday

Today was a hard day as Max was quite ratty all day (and Leo had his tantrum moments too) but Hubby and I remained chilled (well, he always is anyway!) so I’m really trying to look at the brighter side of life ? Onwards and upwards – I think this is the beginning of terrible twos for Max so we do need some patience. I downloaded the HeadSpace app again so will be starting doing some meditation again. Thinking about it now, the boys and I had a lovely morning (woke up at 6!) as I let Hubby have a little lie-in this time. We built a train track and I really enjoyed watching them try play together (try as Maxi wanted to destroy the train track and Leo was getting upset!).
