Welcome to my weekly gratitude journal where I share all the every day moments that have made me happy and appreciate life. No matter how mundane life can sometimes feel, there’s always so much to be grateful for which is why I write a gratitude list every week!
This is what made me happy last week:
I was working from home & the dear Hubby offered to take the kids to school so I could have a few more minutes in bed (normally our arrangement is that if I work from home, I do the school run). Every little helps, I say. I also saw a dietitian in the evening and I’m getting excited about following a meal plan tailored to my needs to shed a couple of stones by the summer. I’m just not feeling comfortable in my own skin & really want to quit sugar. She told me my diet is very healthy but portions are out of control – e.g. eating way too much almond butter or calorie-dense smoothies.
Just a usual day at work so not much happened.
Max hadn’t been sleeping well for the past few days so today I going it hard to cope at work as I had back to back meetings ALL DAY! I’m happy I survived the day though so does that count as gratitude? ?
I was out of London for work for a project visit and I met this 77-year old lady who is so sociable & so bubbly, and I wish I could have that sort of spirit when I’m older (damn, I wish I had that sort of spring in my step RIGHT NOW!!) . She plays Wii with her grandson & practices yoga, and was such a breath of fresh air! I was so tired after another sleepless night with Max but meeting this lady was such a highlight!
We had another sleepless night with Maxi and I felt so exhausted when doing the school run. But I really enjoyed Leo beautifully reading his story about “an international story stealer” at his sharing assembly as well swimming really confidently at his swimming lesson in the afternoon – he came second in a race they did across 3/4 of the pool & I was so impressed with him!
Getting out of the house for a few hours to get my hair coloured & then in the evening going out for dinner with my school mummy friends. We’ve decided we’ll coincide our get togethers with our birthdays and this dinner was to celebrate my recent birthday. Those amazing Mummies got me some very thoughtful birthday gifts: a notebook with a personalised cover (with the name & strap line from my blog!), a lovely blog-related mug and a couple of other lovely things. They really surprised me & I was so touched by the amount of trouble they went into with the whole personalisation stuff! Oh, and also a few skincare goodies arrived today from Miel Botanicals, Naissance and LoveLula – always guaranteed to bring a smile to my face! 😉
Today was Mother’s Day and the boys really spoilt me today. I’m so lucky to have them in my life! Breakfast in bed, beautiful cards and messages, a gorgeous orchid to look at and remind me of today, hugs and kisses, a yummy lunch together, and just chilling all day. A simple but perfect day. I couldn’t have asked for more. <3
