Another month has gone by which can only mean one thing – time for my monthly round-up of natural skincare favourites. As the weather is changing and getting harsher, my products are also changing to help my skin respond to different external factors.

Here are the natural skincare products that I loved using in October:

natural skincare favourites

JOIK Relaxing Bath salts with lavender essential oil* (500g, £6.50)

Ingredients: Sodium chloride (sea salt), lavandula angustiflia oil, linalool*, CI7707. *Component of natural essential oils

These wonderfully-smelling bath salts have been a godsend on days when I just wanted a simple treat of a relaxing bath. Lavender has such a great soothing effect on your senses, plus it helps you to wind down before sleep, so for me that’s a perfect ingredient for a relaxing bath. At £6.50, these bath salts are also great value for money. Buy from LoveLula.

Botanicals Gentle Face Polish* (60g, £25.00)

Ingredients: Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter*, glycerine***, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil,* decyl glucoside, cocos nucifero (coconut) oil*, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil*, rosa canina seed powder*, avena satvia (oat) kernel meal*, calendula offcinalis leaf extract*, tocopherol, zea mays seed flour*, parfum*; lavendula angustifolia (lavender) flower oil*, anthemis nobilis (chamomile) flower oil*, citrus nobilis (mandarin orange) peel oil*, geraniol**, limonene**, linalool**. (*Certified organic. **Natural constituent of essential oils. ***Organic origin.)

If you want to have a brighter complexion, then you really need to dedicate some time to looking after your skin and also to invest in the right products that are kind to your skin and have the right ingredients suitable to your skin type. Also, I can’t stress enough how important it is to wash your face properly in the evening before you go to bed! This gentle exfoliating cleanser from Botanicals is a really great option for those with sensitive skin as the little beads (crushed rosehip kernel) are not too abrasive on such skin. It also contains oatmeal which has a soothing and hydrating effect on skin. My only concern is a fairly hefty price, however as this wash is concentrated, a little amount goes a long way so it’s going to last for a while. Buy from Botanicals

My own DIY Oatmeal bath bomb

Ingredients: shea butter or cocoa butter, oatmeal, citric acid, bicarbonate soda, essential oils (optional).

Talking of oatmeal – I recently used some to make my own DIY bath bombs to help treat my and my son Leo’s eczema flare ups. Winter months are always harsh on our skin, especially the central heating, so soaking in a bath of nourishing oatmeal and shea butter helps to restore moisture to parched skin.

Glossworks Nail Polish (shade: Tanfastic Nude)* (9ml, £12.00)

Ingredients: butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, nitrocellulose, acetyl tributyl citrate, isopropyl alcohol, isobutyl acetate, adipic acid/neopentyl glycol/trimellitic anhydride/copolymer, styrene/acrylates copolymer, sucrose benzoate, stearalkonium bentonite, phthalic anhydride/ trimellitic anhydride/glycols copolymer, ci 77891 (titanium dioxide), ci 77491 (iron oxides), benzophenone-1, acrylates copolymer, butylene glycol, aqua, aluminum hydroxide, barium sulfate, ci 15850 (red 6 lake), triethoxycaprylylsilane , ci 77510 (ferric ferrocyanide), ci 77266 “nano”, helianthus annuus seed oil, nelumbo nucifera flower extract, tocopherol.

I just love this shade from LoveLula’s latest nail polish range, Glossworks! It’s a really subtle nude colour with lilac undertones making it a very versatile shade that goes with everything. The gel-like texture means this polish looks really glossy even without the need for a top coat and lasts for up to a week. I’m also impressed with the brush which can sometimes ruin a wonderful polish but this one is the right shape and length, and distributes the polish evenly across the fingernail. Buy from LoveLula.

Balm Balm Recover Body Oil* (100ml, £16.00)

Ingredients: All organically grown: Prunus persica Kernel (Peach Kernel) Oil, Oenothera biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Rosa canina (Dog Rose) Fruit Oil, Calendula officinalis (Pot Marigold) Flower Extract, Melaleuca alternifolia (Narrow Leaved Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Ravensara aromatica Leaf Oil, Juniperus communis (Juniper) Fruit Oil, Piper nigrum (Black Pepper) Seed Oil, Gaultheria procumbens (Eastern Teaberry) Leaf Oil, Limonene*, Linalool* (*naturally occurring components of essential oil)

Sadly, this body oil seems to have been discontinued since I first got it a few months ago but I still wanted to mention it. I’ve used this blend of oils after gym workouts and it definitely helps to ease muscle pain. While you can’t get your hands on this particular oil, it’s worth noting the ingredient list because you can use it to compare different brands, or even to replicate it at home. 1. Loved reading your favourites! I am now heading to read your bath bomb recipe, after ignoring them for the last two thousand years (I was never interested) I can no longer do so, as my 5yr old keeps asking for them. I know they are easy to make as I perused recipes on Pinterest last year, but I need to refresh my memory 😉 And isn’t it sad when the products you like seem to be discontinued?

  2. I love Botanicals. It was one of the first natural brands I tried and one you know you can trust to have the best natural ingredients. I love the look of the Glossworks polish – I’m definitely more of a nude girl!
